September 2020: Medical Students Training with Local Physicians

Family physicians in several Illinois communities are hosting students from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine throughout September. The students are participating in the school’s Family Medicine Preceptorship Program. The experience provides an opportunity for students to use their medical knowledge in a clinic setting under the supervision of an experienced physician. The students choose from more than 160 family practice physicians in Illinois for their preceptorship experience. They will graduate from medical school in May 2022, then pursue advanced training in a specific area

Service Day Success

Aspects Volume 38 No. 3 Despite the afternoon downpour on Friday, May 8, more than 100 SIU medical students and volunteers were able to provide a little sunshine to the residents of the Enos Park Neighborhood during the second annual SIU Student Day of Service. Some of the students even made some new friends. “I met a few residents from the area,” says Yuri Fedorovic, MSIII (pictu red, left). “However, the most prominent was Hasson, a three-year old who wanted to help us with everything we did. Service Dog to Visit Library February 27, 2019

The Library’s February Study Break will have a special guest in addition to the usual treats and coffee. Stop by the Dirksen Conference Room on February 27th from 2:00 – 4:30pm to meet Gibson, the Sangamon County Courthouse Facility Dog and Certified Service Dog! Gibson, a 3 ½ year old black lab, will be here for hugs, play time, and a little stress relief as our MS2s prepare for their next exam.
