SIU Urology Welcomes Urologic Oncology & Robotic Surgeon, Dr. Kara Babaian

SIU Urology welcomes Dr. Kara Babaian to the faculty. Dr. Babaian is an Assistant Professor in Urology and the Director of Urologic Oncology at SIU School of Medicine. She provides comprehensive urologic oncology clinical care for men and women diagnosed with urologic malignancies. Dr. Babaian performs open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery, individually tailored for the needs of patients with cancers of the kidney, bladder, and prostate.

Dr. Babaian earned her medical degree from The University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She then went on to complete a Urology residency at the University of Wisconsin Hosptial and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. After deciding to subspecialize in Urologic Oncology, Dr. Babaian completed a two-year Urologic Oncology Fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She then went on to complete a Minimally Invasive urology fellowship at the University of California Irvine. Dr. Babaian is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She serves as a reviewer for national and international journals and has authored numerous articles in Urologic Oncology, including original research, book chapters, and reviews. In addition, Dr. Babaian has presented scientific papers at both national and international conferences.
