3rd Year Medical Students Third year medical students from SIU and approved medical schools may complete their 3rd year family medicine clerkship at the Decatur Family Medicine Residency Program. Students clerk in the busy outpatient clinic, round on inpatients in the hospital, and take call. Family Medicine Sub-Intership Family Medicine taught by Family Physicians. A busy rotation where you'll participate on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service including taking call with the residents and seeing patients in the family medicine program under faculty supervision. A well-balanced lifestyle is encouraged at the Southern Illinois University Decatur Family Medicine residency program. Many social events are organized through the program.These events facilitate a sense of comradery and community with our residents, faculty, and staff. The Clinical Skills Laboratory is a dedicated instructional room with dozens of interactive models and simulators for training and self-study. The director of the laboratory is a nurse educator who works with course directors and other nurse educators to provide course-specific clinical skills development activities. Students can also make appointments with the director to schedule sessions to develop, maintain, or remediate clinical skills.
