Prospective Residents

The majority of residency and fellowship programs at SIU School of Medicine participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) with applications accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS). The only programs that do not participate in a match via the NRMP are the Neurology fellowship, Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship and Urology residency. Minimum requirements to apply are:

  • Complete ERAS Application or alternate application if another application service is used by the specialty
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Dean’s letter (MSPE)
  • Minimum 3 letters of recommendation
  • USMLE or COMLEX official transcripts
  • Ability to meet the Illinois Medical Licensure Requirements

Each program has different guidelines for reviewing applications, interview notification process and what to expect during the interview day.  Application deadlines will also vary for each program.  More information is available on the individual program websites
