30th Annual Trainee Research Symposium--Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows

Friday, April 17, 2020, 8:30 a.m. Springfield Campus Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to submit scholarly research abstracts for presentation at the 2020 Trainee Research Symposium. Participants must be first author, and the work must have been conducted under the guidance of an SIU faculty member. A subcommittee will review each abstract and assign an oral or a poster presentation to the trainee. Further information and directions are available on the ADR website. 30th Annual Trainee Research Symposium--Medical Students, Residents and Fellows

Wednesday, April 15, 2020, 8 a.m. Springfield Campus Medical students, residents, and clinical fellows are invited to submit abstracts for presentation at the 2020 Trainee Research Symposium. Scholarly activities eligible for consideration include all Original Research (hypothesis-driven discovery/translational/clinical studies) as well as clinically significant Case Vignettes (case reports). Quality improvement projects are NOT eligible. Presenting trainees must be first author and the work must have been conducted under the guidance of SIU faculty member(s). All abstracts will be reviewed

The Institute for Plastic Surgery at SIU in partnership with Memorial Health will present the 30th Annual Wound Care Symposium on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Memorial Learning Center in Springfield. Guest check in will begin at 7:00 am. We are planning for a half day event, and a detailed schedule will be announced soon.

36th Annual Shannon Stauffer, MD, Orthopedic Conference

The 36th Annual Shannon Stauffer, MD Orthopedic Conference was held at the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation on May 31. It featured Visiting Professor Dr. Allan E. Gross, Division of Orthopedic Surgery, University of Toronto, internationally renowned for his work on fresh-frozen allograft replacement for joint disease and revision total hip arthroplasty. Dr. Gross' former fellow, Dr. D. Gordon Allan, is also SIU residency program director in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery. He served as host. 39th Annual E. Shannon Stauffer Spring Visiting Professor

SIU Division of Orthopedic Surgery presents the 39th Annual E. Shannon Stauffer Spring Visiting Professor with Dirk Alander, MD Dr. E. Shannon Stauffer was the founding chairman of the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at SIU School of Medicine in 1975. He retired from medical practice in 1998. His contributions to the field of orthopedics and, in particular, to the Division of Orthopedics & Rehabilitation at SIU School of Medicine are greatly appreciated. Dr. Stauffer passed away in 2002. 3D Printer in the Medical Library

The assortment of plastic toys on the Library front desk were printed with our XYZ da Vinci 3D printer. Models for these toys were downloaded from thingiverse.com and printed in ABS plastic. In addition to fun objects, we have printed heart and spine sections, clamps, and other medically related items. We have also printed models from the NIH 3D Print Exchange and are looking for more objects to print!
