KEY TERMS nystagmus: An involuntary rhythmic oscillation of the eyes. internuclear ophthalmoplegia (INO): With attempted gaze to one side, failure of the adducting eye to move beyond the midline, with nystagmus developing in the abducting eye. Atrium gathering space gets upgrade

The newly renovated atrium in the medical school’s 825 N. Rutledge building offers a welcoming area for students, faculty and staff to meet and interact. SIU alumni Drs. Kathy Bohn, ‘83, and Tom Nielsen, ‘81, made a generous gift to the medical school to refresh the space.

Audiologist Jennifer L. Berry Named "Best of Springfield"

SIU Medicine audiologist Jennifer L. Berry, AuD, CCC-A, took the title "Best Audiologist" in the Illinois Times' 2018 Best of Springfield awards. Hundreds of readers took to the internet to cast their votes for their favorite restaurants, health care providers, dry cleaners and more in the annual contest. Berry specializes in treating hearing loss and tinnitus and provides cochlear implant services, hearing screenings and hearing aid services. She joined SIU Medicine's Department of Surgery after spending several years researching hearing loss and tinnitus. Berry sees patients at the Ear Nose

Audrey Soglin is the Executive Director of the Illinois Education Association (IEA). She taught in Evanston, Illinois for 25 years.
