Brain Aging Conference - Professionals Day

The Brain Aging Conference - Professionals Day provides health care professionals an opportunity to earn continuing education credits and learn about trends and research related to caring for those with Alzheimer’s and related disorders. From an overview about Alzheimer's, managing agitation and behavior changes, updates on research opportunities, and more, this conference is designed to help you provide better treatment and care for persons with memory loss and their caregivers. This conference is approved for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.

Brain Awareness Day 2020

Graduate students and research staff from the Department of Pharmacology organized Brain Awareness Day at Franklin Middle School on Friday March 6, 2020. During Brain Awareness Day, students and staff delivered a neuroscience presentation to educate Franklin 8 th grade students on basic brain anatomy and physiology. The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives supports this outreach event by providing interactive hand-outs, booklets and pencils. Brain Awareness Day at Franklin MS

Faculty and students from the Department of Pharmacology presented Brain Awareness Day at Franklin Middle School on March 12. The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and SIU HEAL Scholarship supported this year’s outreach project that engages 7th and 8th graders through hands-on activities, games, presentations and a dissection. Brain healthy meal: Broccoli and sun-dried tomato flatbread pizza

With the right ingredients, yes even pizza can be a brain healthy meal! Here's a flatbread recipe to get you started, but feel free to switch out broccoli for other greens, like baby spinach. Broccoli and sun-dried tomato flatbread pizza INGREDIENTS 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp olive oil, divided 1/2 small red onion, sliced thinly into half moons 2 cloves garlic, sliced 4 cups broccoli florets, chopped (7 oz) 18 tsp salt 4 whole-grain flatbreads, pita or naan breads, about 2 oz each 1/4 cup sundried tomatoes (about 6), rehydrated in boiling water for 10 minutes if dry, coarsely chopped 2 tbsp grated
