SIU GME Quality Improvement Poster Symposium and Competition
The SIU Graduate Medical Education Committee, in collaboration with the 2026 Research Symposia, is proud to present the SIU School of Medicine Quality Improvement Poster Symposium and Competition. This event will publicly recognize the quality improvement projects conducted by SIU SOM residents and fellows. Monetary awards will be presented to the top three projects demonstrating excellence in Quality Improvement:
- First place = $250
- Second place = $150
- Third place = $100
An additional Innovation Award, may be presented for the project that most exemplifies "out of the box thinking" or a creative approach to implementing innovative quality improvement with clearly demonstrated and measurable outcomes
- Innovation Award = $150
To be eligible for consideration, submitted projects must demonstrate initiative and a strong commitment to improving systems and processes that directly or indirectly improve patient safety and the quality of healthcare delivery.
The competition is open to any SIU SOM resident or fellow, who is a current trainee at the time of their submission. All entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of SIU SOM faculty and hospital administrators with expertise in, and a strong commitment to, quality improvement.
Judging criteria will be based on Standards for Quality Improvement Reporting Excellence (SQUIRE) guidelines.
