Dr. Sharon Smaga Named IRHA Physician of Excellence

The Illinois Rural Health Association selected Sharon Smaga, MD, professor of family medicine in Carbondale, to receive a 2017 Physician of Excellence Award. The award is presented to doctors who have made a significant impact on the health of communities and shown dedication toward improving access to care in medically underserved areas of the state. Dr. Smaga retired from full-time service this summer at SIU Carbondale Family Medicine. She joined the SIU faculty in August of 1987. SIU Urology Welcomes Dr. Nicholas Tadros

SIU Urology welcomes Dr. Nicholas Tadros to the faculty. Dr. Tadros joins us most recently from the Cleveland Clinic, where he completed specialized training in reproductive medicine. Dr. Tadros earned his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He then completed a general surgery and urology residency at Oregon Health and Science University as well. During that time, he also completed a research fellowship and received a master of clinical research. He finished a Male Infertility and Men's Health Fellow at the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute

The Department of Population Science and Policy strives to protect the most vulnerable of our populations by participating in programs and projects that focus on early childhood development and health. There are both in school and out of school factors that change the way that young students learn and their ability to focus. Some of these things include sleep, stress, housing, and asthma.
