Sibling Play Lab

The Play Lab is led by Lisabeth DiLalla, PhD, a developmental psychologist at the SIU School of Medicine, and is home of the Southern Illinois Twins, Triplets and Siblings Study (SITSS). The lab focuses on preschoolers and the development of peer interactions and parent-child interactions from early childhood through adolescence.There are several research projects underway at the Lab. The SITSS primarily focuses on preschoolers, with various projects encompassing the development of peer interactions and parent-child interactions from preschool through adolescence.

Student education

Students will work with both faculty & residents at the SIU Center for Family Medicine daily and will be a part of the management of patients in the outpatient setting at our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with our inpatient care teams at Decatur Memorial Hospital (DMH). They will experience full-spectrum family medicine, including pediatric & obstetrical care. As we only take two medical students to our site, we can provide a high-quality educational experience in family medicine. SIU Medicine to offer COVID-19 vaccines to children 5-11

Beginning the week of Nov. 8, current SIU Medicine patients five years and older are eligible to receive a vaccine to protect them against COVID-19. SIU Center for Family Medicine will be vaccinating community children as well as SIU Medicine patients. Most people who get infected with COVID-19 get better within weeks of the illness. Yet studies indicate about 1 in 4 experience lingering post-COVID symptoms. For these individuals, post-COVID issues extend a month or longer, and can include a wide range of new, returning or ongoing health problems.
