Welcome SIU Carbondale Family Medicine was established in 1978 at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. We are pleased you have chosen SIU Carbondale Family Medicine as your medical home. SIU Medicine is a group of family physicians that are trained to care for the entire family. Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Department of Family & Community Medicine directs the student Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) and coordinates activities with the student representatives for each class. Students interested in family medicine and/or primary care are welcome to join FMIG to learn more about the philosophy and experiences in family medicine. Membership is free. The SIU Center for Family Medicine – Quincy has met all criteria for Laboratory Accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation Review (COLA), a national health care accreditation organization. The lab received no deficiencies and received the Laboratory Excellence Award, which represents the lab’s “commitment to performing quality patient testing and overall laboratory practices.” The lab “demonstrated successful proficiency testing for the prior three testing events and had no substantiated complaints against the laboratory,” according to the congratulatory letter from COLA.
