Physical resources The SIU School of Medicine AAALAC International-accredited animal facility is located on the first floor of 3 interconnected buildings. Animal housing areas contain approximately 9,800 square feet. Support areas for the animal facility include 8,092 square feet, for a total of 17,892 square feet. Springfield - The Springfield laboratory is the primary site for the PHLS program. This facility is located on the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine campus at 825 N. Rutledge St. Also on campus are laboratory facilities for the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Illinois State Police, and multiple SIU academic researchers. Mission The long-term goal of The Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine and Applied Sciences is to develop a functional hybrid graft to heal full thickness skin defects and explore the potential of epithelial derived stem cells (LGR5+ and LGR6+) for burns, neuropathic ulcers, and hair regeneration. Land of opportunity

It was 1972, and 20-year-old Cindy Young was washing her hair in her parents’ kitchen sink when her mother introduced her to their new next-door neighbor. Twenty-six-year-old Lee Milner was to rent the home owned by Cindy’s parents at 1037 N. Rutledge.
