Diversity and Inclusion
The division of Urology is actively striving to create and maintain a diverse division that both represents and meets the needs of our local, regional, and national communities. We believe that intentionally training the next generation of Urologists to be aware of the many factors which impact a patient’s ability to access and benefit from urologic care is critically important to decrease disparities in the healthcare system.
Creating a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment for trainees, colleagues, and patients regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and/or socioeconomic background
Participating in programs to engage traditionally under-represented minority students through lectures, mentorship, and hands on experiences to improve diversity and inclusion in the field of Urology
Committing to undertake research to identify and resolve disparities in urologic care based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background
Identifying opportunities for traditional and non-traditional community engagement to improve inclusive access to Urologic care
Advocating on behalf of our patients, trainees, and community to dismantle systematic barriers to Urologic care
