Urology Application Process

The SIU urology division participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) where application materials are transmitted from medical schools and the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) to selected programs via the internet. Applicants are responsible for accessing the proper equipment to complete the application process and for submitting all required documents. Complete applicant files are reviewed by the Urology Residency Program Director and urology division chief to determine the 40 to 50 individuals who will be invited to interview with SIU Urology.  The applicants are contacted via e-mail through ERAS.

Applications submitted via ERAS are reviewed independently by two faculty members. The Division of Urology typically receives about 400 completed applications. Applications are scored by two faculty members and interviews are granted to applicants that meet the division approved scoring guideline.

Students who do a rotation in the Division of Urology as part of their medical school curriculum both from within SIU or from outside institutions are not called back for a formal interview as they are evaluated by the faculty during their rotation. If they apply to the urology program, their applications will be evaluated and ranked based on their performance during the rotation.

Interviews will be held virtually this year on the following dates:
November 29, 2023
December 1, 2023
December 6, 2023
December 8, 2023

Interviews are conducted with the faculty of the Division of Urology. Following the formal interviews, candidates are scored based on their performance during the interview and with input from the resident staff. Candidates are only expected to have one interview and are not recalled for second interviews. All successful candidates are placed on the match list.

The division adheres strictly to all rules as prescribed by the National Match with regards to communication with candidates following the formal interview. This is to ensure that a fair and unbiased process is carried out for all of our candidates.

The Division of Urology does not discriminate against any applicant based on race, gender, sexual orientation, or place of origin.
