American Women Physcians in World War I Exhibit

The Medical Library is currently hosting the American Medical Women's Association's (AMWA) ehxibit "American Women Phyicians in WWI." The exhibit will he on display until March 4th, 2019. Gabriel Corfas, University of Michigan Gabriel Corfas, PhD, is Professor and Associate Chair for Research in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan and Director of the Kresge Hearing Research Institute. His research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of neuron-glia interactions and the roles of glia in health and disease with the hope to use this knowledge towards developing treatments for nervous system disorders. Fourth-year medical student Aileen Portugal is a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ community. In 2016, she helped found the first LGBTQ Support Group at SIU School of Medicine.
