Structure

During the first eight months of the third year students rotate through all core clerkships. Each clerkship is 4-weeks in duration. The final 15 weeks consist of students selecting from a comprehensive list of selectives that are offered from all departments and specialties within the school of medicine. During the 4-week surgery core clerkship each student is randomly assigned one faculty preceptor from one of ten surgical specialties. Each preceptor determines the students daily schedules which includes clinic, surgery, and attending educational conferences. Students are allowed to work up

Core Internal Medicine Clerkship Internal Medicine encompasses a broad spectrum of knowledge that is foundational for any subsequent specialty that a student chooses to pursue. GOAL: The goal of the four-week Family and Community Medicine (FCM) clerkship is to introduce students to the Patient-Centered Medical Home through the breadth and scope of family medicine, including the psychosocial and procedural aspects, particularly as they apply to ambulatory care.
