Welcome to the Department of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology at SIU Medicine. Our faculty, graduate students and medical students are involved in discovery-based, forward-thinking biomedical research that supports future generations of scientists, providers and health care leaders. Our research innovations focus on areas of interest including tumor cell growth, viral and bacterial infections, the human gut microbiome and the role of immune function in reproduction and cancer.

Welcome to the Department of Medical Humanities at SIU Medicine. Our role is to ensure critical dialog about health, health care and the human condition. Our interdisciplinary team takes insights from the broad spectrum of humanities and applies them holistically and comprehensively to the teaching, research and service endeavors of our organization. We provide students, residents and faculty with knowledge of the humanities, encourage scholarly activity, and bridge the gap between humanities and medical care to better support our community.

The office of the associate dean for research and faculty affairs coordinates SIU’s involvement with sponsored programs and establishes and maintains contact with funding agencies, providing them with information about the School’s research needs, interest and capabilities. The office also promotes faculty development and faculty interest in research and coordinates the three doctoral programs: Molecular Biology/Microbiology and Biochemistry, Pharmacology, and Physiology.

Welcome to SIU Medicine Department of Population Science and Policy (PSP). Our work expands SIU Medicine’s reach into the spaces where people live, work, learn and play. Since 1975, SIU School of Medicine has educated and trained more than 3,300 MD alumni, and 4,000 resident and fellow alumni. Every graduate becomes a member of the School of Medicine Alumni Society. There are no dues. The Office of Development & Alumni Relations and the Alumni Society seek to provide meaningful ways to connect and engage its alumni and current students with their alma mater and with each other. At the Department of Information Technology at SIU Medicine, our team of specialists provides an array of services to support faculty, staff, medical students and residents. We provide timely troubleshooting assistance, ensure our organization is protected by appropriate fail-safes and backup plans and maintain our community’s internet of things (IoT), including all medical devices embedded with software and other technology to connect and exchange data. The Department of Internal Medicine at SIU Medicine is dedicated to providing quality patient care to central and southern Illinois. Our general internal medicine physicians have undergone extensive training and have a deep foundation of clinical and practical knowledge that allows them to provide the complete range of medical care for adults, including the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, gynecological care, urgent care and minor surgery.
