Camp COCO Charity Golf Outing Set for June 9

Southern Illinois University Medicine invites golfers to form teams for the annual charity golf outing benefiting the Camp COCO Children’s Cancer Fund. A shotgun start will begin the game at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at The Rail Golf Course, 1400 S. Club House Dr., Springfield. The presenting sponsors of the four-person scramble are the H. D. Smith Foundation and Bunn, and the double eagle sponsor is HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital. An entry fee of $125 per player includes greens fees, golf cart, lunch by McCormick’s Smokehouse Restaurant, dinner by Robert’s Seafood Market, on-course

Get your raffle tickets before we sell out! Seven items will be raffled off at the Golf Outing on June 7, 2019. Need not be present to win. Purchase your raffle tickets at the SIU Foundation office at 409 W. Calhoun, Springfield or at the SIU Pediatrics office at 301 N. 8 th St., Springfield. Applications for the 2023 summer lab internships at Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU School of Medicine are being accepted through February 27. Four positions will be awarded on a competitive basis to qualified college students who plan a career in medicine or research with a focus on cancer.

Cancer survivors, local businesses advocate for breast reconstruction awareness in Sept. 28 fashion show

SIU Medicine is bringing the New York City catwalk to the cornfields of New Berlin. The Institute for Plastic Surgery at SIU Medicine is teaming up with area businesses to educate women about their breast reconstruction options. Danenberger Family Vineyards will host “Angels Among Us,” a fashion show featuring local cancer survivors, with the help of AnaOno, an international intimates clothing line for women who have or are undergoing breast cancer treatment, and Eye Candy, a boutique, salon and spa located in Springfield. Cancer survivors: You're invited to become a 2019 Face of Hope

Each October, Simmons Cancer Institute (SCI) at SIU, features a presentation called “Faces of Hope" at the Annual Denim & Diamonds Gala, the institute's primary fundraising event. Photos of approximately 30 cancer survivors flash across the screen to music to raise funds for cancer research, patient programs, and the growing needs of our patient population. We celebrate every survivor is celebrated regardless of where treatment was received.
