Research overview
On the forefront of innovation
The SIU Division of Urology has the capability, experience, and dedication to research new techniques and technology to aid in the advancement of patient diagnosis, management, and education across many pathologies in Urology. Our goal is to become a well-rounded department involved in the full spectrum of research. We have the ability to participate in the latest industry-sponsored clinical drug and device trials for prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, and BPH to name a few. All faculty physicians have initiated their own projects with successful funding from NIH, industry, and local grant opportunities. We also acknowledge the importance of collaboration by forging partnerships with other universities and visiting professors throughout the country. Aside from the clinical research, the division also has two laboratories to conduct basic science experiments. Not only does our vast involvement in research benefit our patients with state-of-the-art care, but it also allows our medical students and residents to be involved in the forefront of this innovation.
