SIU School Of Medicine Students and Visiting Students are included in the policies of SIU School of Medicine as approved by the ICSC.

Needle sticks and bloodborne pathogens exposure
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, or a sharps injury/needlestick flowchart.
- During work hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., immediately page the SIU Employee Health Nurse at 217-492-2446, located at 201 East Madison, 3rd floor.
After hours, on weekends, or on holidays, Call the SIU Answering Service at 217-545-8000 and have them page the ID physician on call.
- Please review the Exposure Procedure Sheet.
- The EHN will collaborate with the Assistant Dean, Student Affairs for required accommodations if needed.
- Financial responsibility is covered by SIU Medicine and is not the responsibility of the affected student. If a student erroneously receives a bill associated with an evaluation for exposure, they are to notify the EHN for assistance and corrective action
