OB-GYN Residency Alumni
At SIU School of Medicine, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology equips students with the tools and opportunities to understand and participate in research and leadership. The following graduates embraced these opportunities and have emerged as promising leaders in women’s health.
Meet two of our recent alumni
Dr. Allen Ghareeb
As a medical student, Dr. Ghareeb was actively involved in leadership and service, serving on the Year 2 Curriculum Committee, Community Health Policy Committee and Springfield Collaborative for Active Child Health. He was the volunteer coordinator for his class and a founding member of the Global Health Interest Group. After graduation, he completed his OB-GYN residency at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. He is now completing a maternal-fetal medicine fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle and will pursue additional fellowship training in critical care medicine at the University of California–San Diego in 2026. Nationally, Dr. Ghareeb has served as Chair of the ACOG Junior Fellow College Advisory Council, acting as a liaison between junior fellows and the board of directors.
Dr. Taylor Badger
Dr. Badger’s connection to SIU began early, when she joined a translational science lab as a Simmons Cancer Institute summer intern to study ovarian cancer development. She later enrolled at SIU School of Medicine, where she excelled as a medical student and a research advocate. She helped establish the Research Scholar Pathway, now offered to medical students with an interest in developing scholarly skills. During medical school, she also completed the NIH Medical Research Scholars Program in 2023. Currently an OB-GYN resident at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Badger is leading a residency research project assessing the use of virtual reality to train medical students on the steroid hormone synthesis pathway. She also serves as Junior Fellow Vice Chair for ACOG District VI.
