Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine

The Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) exists to provide high-quality, cost-effective husbandry, administrative and technical support for animal care and use, to facilitate animal well-being for research and teaching at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Division of Orthopedic Surgery Recieves Robert Bucholz Journal Club Grant

The Division of Orthopedic Surgery has been awarded the 2020-2021 Robert Bucholz Journal Club Grant from the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS) Resident Education Fund. The application was completed and submitted by Dr. Paul Al-Attar (Orthopedic Surgery, PGY-4) on behalf of the SIU Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program. This grant is used to support orthopaedic training by teaching residents how to evaluate current scientific literature and providing educational information on managing an effective journal club. Case 1 72 year old with vision problem HPI 72 y/o man 4 months ago found to have squamous cell CA of lung. 3 days ago he had lung surgery. Yesterday he developed a "vision problem". Exam by internal medicine resident and MSIII. Fundus exam shows bilateral cataracts, retinas appear normal.
