Vascular Surgery Residency

The Division of Vascular Surgery at Southern Illinois University has a longstanding history of training Vascular Surgeons beginning with a fellowship in 1978 and transitioning to a fully accredited integrated Vascular Residency in 2011.

The goal of our program is to train well rounded, independent and safe practicing vascular surgeons who provide optimal care to patients, families and the wider community. The program is based out of two Level 1 500-bed hospitals in Springfield, IL – Springfield Memorial Hospital and HSHS St. John's Hospital.

The vascular surgeons at Southern Illinois University are leaders in their field and continue to set standards of care in both open and endovascular surgery. The comprehensive breadth of clinical training with various research opportunities will allow our graduating residents to pursue either an academic or private practice career pathway.
