White Coat Notes

You remember what it was like as a 1st year medical student. The unknown of the next 4 years lie ahead as you walk across the stage to receive your white coat. Consider offering words of encouragement and support to new students by submitting a note below. We will place the notes in the white coats prior to them being on stage. Submit a note now!

Commencement Notes

If you would like to share words of wisdom with graduating 4th year medical students, please submit a note through the link below. We will distribute these notes to all graduates prior to Commencement to provide much need encouragement as they embark on the next stage of their journey! Submit a note now!

Host an event in your area

Help strengthen the SIU School of Medicine's presence in your area by hosting an event, reception, or dinner for alumni located near you. It's a great way to reconnect with fellow alumni and hear updates about your alma mater. To discuss possibilities, contact us at alumnirelations@siumed.edu.

Connect with medical students over a meal

If you live in Springfield or Carbondale and would like to host dinner for a group of medical students for a scheduled block of time, we would love to facilitate that connection. Contact us at alumnirelations@siumed.edu.

Mentor/teach/precept a medical student

You remember what it was like to be a medical student and how invaluable it was to have a mentor or preceptor who took the time to teach you. If you live in Illinois and you are interested in mentoring or precepting a medical student, resident, or fellow, contact alumnirelations@siumed.edu. Our office would be happy to connect you with the appropriate person/department here at SIU SOM. If you are interested in speaking to a group of students, let us know that as well.

Give to the Student Resource Fund

The Student Resource Fund makes a difference in the social, emotional, and physical well-being of students by helping fund student perks such as a membership to the YMCA and the Winter Ball. Click here to learn more.
