SIU Surgeon Named 'Master Educator in Endoscopy'

SIU surgeon John Mellinger, MD, FACS, is the 2019 recipient of the SAGES Foundation’s Ponsky Master Educator in Endoscopy Award. SIU Surgeon to Lead National Surgery Board

Jan Rakinic, MD, FACS , SIU School of Medicine Professor of Surgery, has been named the president-elect for the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery (ABCRS.) “To earn this recognition from a number of my peers, whom I have a lot of respect for, is really humbling,” says Rakinic, who joined SIU in 2001. She is the chief of the Section of Colorectal Surgery at SIU School of Medicine. SIU System Collaborative Grant DUE DATE: Sept. 15, 2021 The goal of the SIU System Collaborative Grant program is to promote new biomedical research collaborations and foster receipt of extramural funding for research projects between faculty at the various SIU campuses, including the School of Medicine, Edwardsville, and Carbondale. SIU Urology welcomes Dr. M Francesca Monn. Dr. Monn is an Assistant Professor of Urology at SIU Medicine. She is a fellowship-trained Reconstructive Urologist and is passionate about treating urethral and ureteral strictures, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, and genital anomalies. Dr. Monn earned her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. SIU Urology Welcomes Dr. Nicholas Tadros

SIU Urology welcomes Dr. Nicholas Tadros to the faculty. Dr. Tadros joins us most recently from the Cleveland Clinic, where he completed specialized training in reproductive medicine. Dr. Tadros earned his medical degree from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. He then completed a general surgery and urology residency at Oregon Health and Science University as well. During that time, he also completed a research fellowship and received a master of clinical research.
