Tuition Assistance Programs

Tuition Reimbursement Tuition reimbursement is available to Civil Service, Principal Administrative and Research employees who are enrolled at any other degree granting institution not covered by the tuition waiver program. The institution must be accredited and the coursework must be for credit; tuition for non-credit coursework will not be reimbursed. The maximum amount of tuition reimbursement shall be based on an employee's annual salary. This benefit is not available for Faculty employees. Tuition Waiver Tuition waiver (graduate and undergraduate) is available to Civil Service employees

TUITION WAIVER PROGRAM Eligibility: Civil Service Staff - Tuition waiver (graduate or undergraduate) is available to employees to attend State of Illinois-supported universities. Principal Administrative Staff and Faculty - Tuition waiver is available to employees to attend SIUC and SIUE only. Full-time employees are eligible for a maximum of six (6) hours of waiver per semester; permanent part-time employees are eligible for a waiver of the number of hours proportionate to their part-time rate of employment. Two NIH Grants Boost SIU Alzheimer's Research

Alzheimer’s is a devastatingly progressive disease that robs our loved ones of their memories and personalities. Presently 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 14 million. Early and accurate diagnosis could save up to $7.9 trillion in medical and care costs, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. There is increasing evidence that Alzheimer’s disease lies on a continuum with dynamic neurobiological and pathological symptoms. Two Receive ARO Travel Grant Award

Congratulations to award recipients Nnenna Ezeilo, M.D., a fourth-year resident in Otolaryngology working in the lab of Dr. Brandon Cox (Pharmacology) and Sri Kommajosyula, Ph.D., a first-year postdoc working in the lab of Dr. Donald Caspary (Pharmacology). The two trainees were awarded a travel grant to attend the Association for Research in Otolaryngology annual meeting held February 9-14 in San Diego, Calif.
